Surya Mandir Ranchi – Let’s Explore The Sun Temple

Surya Mandir is located in the Edalhatu village near Bundu, at a distance of about 40 kilometers in the southeast direction from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The temple is situated on top of a small hill, 1 km away from Ranchi-Jamshedpur Highway NH-22 ( formerly known as – NH33).

This Surya mandir is the pride of bundu and the whole Jharkhand.

The Architecture of The Sun Temple

The Temple is constructed in the form of a huge chariot and On both sides of which 9-9 wheels are attached. Along with this, seven mighty horses have been made to pull that chariot, The temple also has other deities including Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesha.

One of the best things about this temple’s architectural design is that the sun’s rays directly enter through the window due to this reason, there is a wonderful view inside the temple.

Construction of The Sun Temple

It is said that once Sitaram Ji stopped in a Dhaba near the Sun temple in order to go to Tata, then he met Singh Munda Ji, the landlord of Edalhatu Bundu. Only then, in a matter of words, Pradhan Singh Munda Ji said that he wants to donate his land for the temple, then Sitaram Maru Ji said that this is a very good thing, do not worry, I make some arrangements and left from there.

A few days later, Pradhan Singh Munda Ji donated 15 acres of land in the name of the temple, and then this temple was established by the Sanskriti Vihar Charitable Trust Ranchi under the leadership of Sitaram Maroo Ji the managing director of Ranchi Express Group.

The foundation stone of this temple was laid by Swami Shri Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji on 24 October 1991 and the Pranapratishtha of the temple was completed on 10 July 1994 by Swami Shri Vamdev Ji Maharaj.

There is also a hostel of Bhasker Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir situated underground of the Sun Temple and a lot of students live here and on the sun temple campus also a school.

When is the Surya Mandir Mela held?

A historical tusu fair is organized every year on 25 and 26 January in the Bundu Sun Temple. This fair is held for the last 25 years on the occasion of the end of Makar Sankranti. People come from far and wide to see the fair

In this fair, many items used in everyday life are found, such as embroidery, sword, blanket, etc., and big swings, dance, ghost house, and other multiple means of entertainment for kids and adults in the fair.

Apart from Surya Mela, Chhath Mela is also held here on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Mahaparva because there is a pond near the temple Surya Sarovar,

and so on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Mahaparv in this pond, many devotees offer Arghya to the Surya Bhagvan in this pond.

There is a lot of crowd in Chhath Puja, devotees from the surrounding area come to offer Arghya to the Sun God and a rest house has also been built here for the night’s rest.

How to reach Sun Temple?

The Sun Temple is located at Edalahtu Bundu, 1 kilometer from Ranchi to Tata National Highway NH-22 (formerly known as -NH33).

A good road has been made to go from NH 22 to the Sun temple, so there is no inconvenience to go to the temple.

Distance from Tata – 86Km

You get a bus from Ranchi and Tata to go to Sun Temple but the temple is 1km inside NH 33 so you have to go on foot I would say you go in your own vehicle.

Also, a few vendors sell refreshments over here like aloo-chana, jhaal-murhi, biscuits, ice cream, coconut water, etc.

Nearby Visiting Place

if you want you can visit Dasam fall which is 20km away from Sun Temple, and also Maa Dewri Temple Which is 23km away from Sun Temple, and these are also situated on the same route.

The Perfect Weather for Visiting Surya Mandir

Because the Sun temple is inside the forest, it is good to come here during the monsoon, the view here is worth seeing during the monsoon, Green trees are seen around the Sun Temple situated on the hill, which also brings a lot of peace and relaxation to the mind.

People also come here for a photo shoot. Many Nagpuri songs have also been shot in the temple.

There are also photographers available who click good photos and charge very less money.
